Spectrum Systems Design Audio Video Communication Systems

How We Work

Initial Proposal

After discussing the proposed project with the design and client team, we will prepare a proposal to outline the scope of project and the scope of work for Phase I: Design Development.

Phase One – Design Development

Purpose: Define type of audio video system(s), functional requirements and to estimate cost of the project.

  1. Spectrum shall review the Audio Video Facilities Planning Checklist with the different user groups to recommend and define the audio video system(s) and their functional requirements.
  2. Develop a presentation wall
  3. Locate audio video equipment for different room configurations
  4. Develop the room's architecture with the Client's design team
  5. Calculate projection optics
  6. Analyze front or rear projection requirements
  7. Configure lectern requirements
  8. Present a written Design Development Report containing
    1. Functional requirements per system
    2. Equipment location
    3. Estimate project cost of:
      1. Equipment per system
      2. Installation/training
      3. Design completion
    4. Project schedule
  9. Review with Client the balance of system function, quality and budget.
  10. Client adjusts scope of project, scope of work and approves proceeding to Phase 2 - Design and Construction Documents

Phase 2 – Design and Construction Documents

Purpose: Evolve the audio video design for the Architects preparation and issuance of construction documents.

  1. Help balance function, quality and cost of audio video system(s) with the Client
  2. Review acoustical, lighting and mechanical plans
  3. Complete detail of projection screen location
  4. Create a block diagram per audio video system
  5. Initiate engineering per audio video system
  6. Complete floor and reflected ceiling plans for location of current and future equipment
  7. Prepare construction documents for architects’ issuance
  8. Present the developed audio video design and construction documents for final review before issuance

Phase 3 – Design Completion and Audio Video Documents

Purpose: Complete all audio video design and engineering, prepare the Final Design Report with functional requirements, equipment list, installation and cost breakdown.

  1. Review audio video system(s) functional requirements, quality and budget with the Client's design team
  2. Complete a block diagram per system
  3. Complete engineering per system
  4. Complete equipment list
  5. Prepare audio video wiring documents
  6. Complete audio video project cost
  7. Present and review the Design Report with final system function, equipment list and installation/training costs

Phase Four – Installation

Purpose: This is the final phase of the project. Upon approval, all equipment will be ordered and pre-assembled or wired. This phase includes construction site administration, on site installation of the systems, client acceptance/training and as built documentation.

  1. Review in the final report in detail with the client team. Balance system functionality with quality and project cost
  2. Upon approval, proceed with equipment purchases
  3. Pre-assemble equipment in racks and test
  4. Complete custom fabrication of wall panels, equipment rack panels, projector mounts, and/or floor box panels
  5. Provide on site construction administration, coordination and supervision
  6. On site pulling of cable, termination of equipment/custom panels, mounting projectors and interface connections to other systems
  7. Projector optic alignments, audio gain structure set, all systems verified and checked for operation
  8. Spectrum acceptance testing
  9. Full client acceptance testing. Verify with the client that all equipment is delivered; all connections work, and all systems are fully operational
  10. Deliver operation and training manuals and as-wired documents
  11. Training of client staff on the use of audio video systems. Possible PowerPoint presentation
  12. Provide ongoing backup and systems warranty
