How We Work
Initial Proposal
After discussing the proposed project with the design and client team, we will prepare a proposal to outline the scope of project and the scope of work for Phase I: Design Development.
Phase One – Design Development
Purpose: Define type of audio video system(s), functional requirements and to estimate cost of the project.
- Spectrum shall review the Audio Video Facilities Planning Checklist with the different user groups to recommend and define the audio video system(s) and their functional requirements.
- Develop a presentation wall
- Locate audio video equipment for different room configurations
- Develop the room's architecture with the Client's design team
- Calculate projection optics
- Analyze front or rear projection requirements
- Configure lectern requirements
- Present a written Design Development Report containing
- Functional requirements per system
- Equipment location
- Estimate project cost of:
- Equipment per system
- Installation/training
- Design completion
- Project schedule
- Review with Client the balance of system function, quality and budget.
- Client adjusts scope of project, scope of work and approves proceeding to Phase 2 - Design and Construction Documents
Phase 2 – Design and Construction Documents
Purpose: Evolve the audio video design for the Architects preparation and issuance of construction documents.
- Help balance function, quality and cost of audio video system(s) with the Client
- Review acoustical, lighting and mechanical plans
- Complete detail of projection screen location
- Create a block diagram per audio video system
- Initiate engineering per audio video system
- Complete floor and reflected ceiling plans for location of current and future equipment
- Prepare construction documents for architects’ issuance
- Present the developed audio video design and construction documents for final review before issuance
Phase 3 – Design Completion and Audio Video Documents
Purpose: Complete all audio video design and engineering, prepare the Final Design Report with functional requirements, equipment list, installation and cost breakdown.
- Review audio video system(s) functional requirements, quality and budget with the Client's design team
- Complete a block diagram per system
- Complete engineering per system
- Complete equipment list
- Prepare audio video wiring documents
- Complete audio video project cost
- Present and review the Design Report with final system function, equipment list and installation/training costs
Phase Four – Installation
Purpose: This is the final phase of the project. Upon approval, all equipment will be ordered and pre-assembled or wired. This phase includes construction site administration, on site installation of the systems, client acceptance/training and as built documentation.
- Review in the final report in detail with the client team. Balance system functionality with quality and project cost
- Upon approval, proceed with equipment purchases
- Pre-assemble equipment in racks and test
- Complete custom fabrication of wall panels, equipment rack panels, projector mounts, and/or floor box panels
- Provide on site construction administration, coordination and supervision
- On site pulling of cable, termination of equipment/custom panels, mounting projectors and interface connections to other systems
- Projector optic alignments, audio gain structure set, all systems verified and checked for operation
- Spectrum acceptance testing
- Full client acceptance testing. Verify with the client that all equipment is delivered; all connections work, and all systems are fully operational
- Deliver operation and training manuals and as-wired documents
- Training of client staff on the use of audio video systems. Possible PowerPoint presentation
- Provide ongoing backup and systems warranty
